Granny Squares Update

I've been busy over the New Year weekend.  Since most of my time at the quilt along at church is spent helping my friends, I spent some time on my handcrank making great granny squares.
 I got 13 made, I have 7 to go!

I ran out of green for my corners, and the edges of one block, so we have to make a trip to Joann's on Saturday!
Do not trim when you have a sinus headache!  Do you think if I put some stitch witchery on the back of the cut it will be okay since it is on the edge?
I just love sewing on my handcrank, it is so rhythmic!  My husband laughs at me when he walks past saying that I "am just so cute cranking away on my sewing machine".  I love the waters "Hint", it is my special treat because they are kind of expensive.
I just have to guide it with my left hand while my right hand cranks.  I have blue carpet tape marking my 1/4 inch seam allowance.  Since it was converted from an electric, I do have a reverse stitch.
I would love to have an original hand crank, my hand crank parts came from China!  LOL
What have you been up to lately?

  1. I have never used a hand crank machine..looks like a challenge! I am hand quilting a crib quilt and designing some new prairie dolls. Love the color pallet on our quilt blocks:)

  3. Wow, a hand crank machine? No way could I do that. I must use both hands with my foot petal, and even then I'm not always straight! Your squares are lovely!

  4. You have been busy and made such pretty blocks with your hand crank. I've never tried sewing on one, and it's been so long since I treaddled. Looks like your New Year is off to a great start.

Come by and see what's in the works for my January. I'm determined to whittle down my Fabric Stash this year and participate in some Finish Alongs and Swaps.

    Happy New Year.
