My friend Allison did a demo on how to decoupage a sewing machine case. I love how her case turned out!
You start off with a yucky case and tear off the lining.
She used a matte finish Mod Podge.
You can use anything on your case!
She recommends heavy duty felt cushion pads for the bottom your case.
Don't forget to do the bottom of your case!
Go ahead and get your fingers dirty!

Here is a case I had, pretty ugly - huh?
My "second mom" gave this machine to me, she sewed all of her clothes on it in high school!
As soon as I got home from TX I had to do my case! I cut up an old Keepsake Quilting catalog and a brochure from AR.
I had to include any cat quilts in it.

I printed off the girls on the treadles.
This is my top. My husband broke the handle, even though I always tell him not to carry the old machines by the handles!
This is the inside of the case, and I wish I had thought of printing off the picture of tiger sitting on my treadle before I had finished the outside.
If you look to the upper right, I printed off a picture of the sewing machine that belongs to the case.

That is very cute. My cases are in excellent condition overall. I never find machines in cases, either cabinet or just a machine head. :(

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of doing this with my Universal case I got last month. I think I'll use fabric instead of paper. It should work as well.
