Wanna hear something funny I did? When I first set up my quilt on the treadle, I put my slipmat under the quilt where it goes on top of the machine. The only thing though is, I forget to tape it down.
I'm not sure if you can see it in the picture below, but I actually sewed the slipmat to my quilt!
I had to seam rip out all of my stitches, and then I used painter's tape to tape it down to the bed of my machine. Boy did I feel stupid! Of course this was a couple of weeks ago but since I did not have my my laptop I could not download any pictures to show you! It's called a Supreme Slider. I know there is a lot of discussion about feed dogs, and some people say you don't need to drop them, but I prefer to. However, I can't drop the feed dogs on my treadle so I have to cover them.
I had to share this picture of Oreo overseeing my cutting.
Have a great day ya'll!
Missy
Hey, I'm all for "taking your time" as well as "taping the feed dogs". I'm sure your quilt will look great. And I'm looking forward to seeing it when you have finished quilting it. I think Oreo is doing a great job supervising.

I almost bought a slider mat the other day. I'll have to keep your UH-OH in mind when I do.
ReplyDeleteYikes, be careful with that tape! It can destroy the finish on the wood! I don't know how much tape damage I have seen when I have restored machines/cabinets. If you have to tape, use the blue painter's tape and remove after the project.
ReplyDeleteLOL I have almost done that a couple of times. We are so excited to get to quilt! Cute pic of Oreo supervising your work.
ReplyDeleteMissy, that is one of the funnier mistakes I've seen. Although not fun at the time, I am sure. I love the photo of your kitty inhibiting the "free motion" Now if you could just get her to sit in strategic places....LOL

ReplyDeleteI think I may have deleted them all..lol. I was saying I never understood how the mats worked, without sewing it to the quilt. (still don't understand it)
