One of the ladies from the senior citizen center brought in a finished quilt on Wednesday. She embroidered these girls with parasols on it. The entire thing was hand stitched and quilted.
She has not washed out the blue quilting lines yet. This is the back of the quilt. Isn't it great?
Embroidery is not something I can do very well.
What a talented group of ladies!
Do you like to hand quilt?

That is a lot of work. Love the hand quilting, done it a couple of time on small projects but it is truly an art on a big quilt.
ReplyDeleteSo much beautful work!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous quilt! I just love that kind of embroidery, although I'm not very good at it. Maybe I just haven't given it a chance. My mother and aunts used to embroidery on pillow cases, and I still have some of them and use them all the time. I also like to hand quilt.
ReplyDeleteWow -- what gorgeous work!! I love all the handwork on it -- that's one special quilt!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful... a wonderful heirloom quilt, for sure!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! What patience and dedication to hand quilt the same thing over and over again and have each one come out so perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! This type of quilt is right up my alley. I salute this quilter and her ability to focus on this project long enough to finish it. I wish I had that same type of focus. Give this quilter five gold stars!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness!!!! What an awesome quilt. It is absolutely beautiful. I cannot imagine embroidering all of those precious parasol girls and then hand quilting the entire quilt. It would take me a lifetime. What a treasure. It is a real inspiration to those of us that struggle with our embroidery stitches. genie
ReplyDeleteWow...That is such a beautiful quilt!
