Vintage Tablecloths

In homemaking class we learned how to properly set a table. 

 I let her use my good China to set the table.

 We had our big test on Ancient Greece in History.  We wore togas and had Greek food, Dolmas, Greek olives, and Feta cheese.

 We used my old book on etiquette written by Emily Post.

I let my student choose which tablecloth she wanted to use.  Out of all of my new and old tablecloths, she picked my vintage ones!

 I love this vintage tablecloth I got at a yard sale.  I love the hand embroidered yellow daisies.  Someone spent a lot of time on this tablecloth.

 I also taught her how to layer tablecloths for another look.  This red tablecloth, I picked up at a yard sale, is too small for my table.  We wanted to use it, so we laid it diagonally on top of the white one.  Do you see Tiger sitting on the chair?

If it wasn't for my cats, who are sneaky when we aren't looking, I would leave a tablecloth on my table at all times.

Decisions

 I have been trying to decide what sashing to use on the cake blocks I got from the Sew Sweet Bee.  I believe I have decided on the pink.  I'll leave it up for a while to make sure.  I have two blocks I need to make and am waiting for one to be sent to me.  The vintage sheet I'll be using for the back, I'm actually wearing it as a toga right now.  We are studying ancient Greece in History and today is our big test.

 The red block above was paper pieced.  I have never done any paper piecing and had to ask how to take the paper off.  My neighbor suggested to mist the small pieces and to use tweezers.

 On Instagram, I won a giveaway from Catching Stitches.

 I made a block for my sampler quilt.  I have been making a second block of some of the Sew Sweet Bee blocks I have been sending to other people.  These pieces have been sitting on my sewing machine, waiting to be sewn together.  I changed the orientation of the outer blocks.  This would make a nice quilt.

 I sent the block below to the queen bee this month.

 I got a magnet to use as a seam guide.  It is not strong enough to stay in place though.

 I had a tooth pulled last week.  What better thing to do when you feel awful, but to color?  Coloring is a great relaxer after work when you don't want to think.

Springfield, MO Quilt Show

The Springfield Quilt Show as last week.  Springfield, MO is an hour away from where I love.  Two of my friends, Darlene and Norma, went with me.  We had a lot of fun!  I took several pictures of the quilts and the descriptions of who made the quilt.  Enjoy!
